What We Believe
The following paragraphs summarize what the Grace Baptist Church family believes to be true. For a more detailed account and description of our doctrinal beliefs feel free to request a “Confession of Faith” from the church office.
About The Bible:
We believe that the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are inspired (God-breathed), both verbally and in every part and are perfectly true. We believe that God has preserved His Word, which is the supreme revelation of His will for man and constitutes the only infallible guide for faith and life. Our conviction is that the King James Version of the Bible is the preserved Word of God for the English-speaking people (Psalm 12:6-7; II Timothy 3:15-17; I Peter 1:23-25; II Peter 1:19-21).
About God:
We believe there is one, and only one, true and living God, that there is indivisible unity in the Godhead, existing in three separate persons-the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit-equal in every divine perfection, of the same essence and executing distinct, but harmonious, offices in the great work of both creation and redemption (Matthew 28:19; 1 Corinthians 1:9-14; Hebrews 1:8).
About Jesus:
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God and second person of the triune God. At His incarnation He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and virgin born. He is “God … manifest in the flesh.” He lived a sinless life and in His blood shed death made a full payment for the penalty of man’s sin for all that believe on Him. He rose bodily from the dead on the third day. Jesus ascended into heaven where He now sits at the right hand of the Father interceding and preparing a place for those that believe on Him for salvation. He shall appear in the air to rapture His saints, and after seven years, shall return to the Earth to establish His millennial kingdom (Matthew 1:18-25; 23:6; John 1:1; 14:3; 20:27; Acts 15:16; 1 Corinthians 15:4; 1 Thessalonians 4:16; 2 Thessalonians 2:6-8; Hebrews 7:25; 8:6; 12:2; 1 Peter 2:22; 3:18; 1 John 2:1; Revelation 3:21).
About The Holy Spirit:
We believe that the Holy Spirit is God and the third Person of the triune God. He is equal with the Father and the Son in power and attributes. We believe He convicts the world of sin, righteousness and judgment. His work among believers in Christ includes His sealing, indwelling, filling, comfort, guiding and teaching them to live the Christian life (John14:16; Acts 1:5; 1 Corinthians 12:8-13; Ephesians 1:13).
About Sin And Salvation:
We believe that man was created by God and that all men are descended from the historical Adam and Eve. By voluntary disobedience man fell from his sinless state. Consequently all men are now sinners by nature and by choice. The penalty for sin is separation from God presently and eternally in the Lake of Fire without hope.
We believe Jesus Christ died for the entire human race and that salvation of sinners is based on the sacrificial work of the Son of God on the cross. There are no other works that can save man’s soul. Salvation requires receiving Jesus Christ by placing faith in His death, burial, and resurrection as payment for sin’s penalty. The believer in Christ is completely justified and in possession of eternal life, which is eternally secure (Genesis 1:27; Isaiah 53:6; John 3:16; Romans 3:23; 5:12-19)
About The Church:
The local church is a congregation whose members are saved and scripturally baptized, observing the ordinances of Christ, serving Christ and others, and evangelizing the lost. Its officers are pastors and deacons, whose qualifications and duties are defined in the epistles (Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 2:41-47; 1 Corinthians 11:23-28; Ephesians 1:22, 23; Titus 1; Hebrews 12:23).
